Smashing Pumpkins band-leader Billy Corgan slammed Pavement in a recent twitter outburst saying:
“Just found out SP is playing with Pavement in Brazil. It’s been five years since The Russian Futurists released Our Thickness, but they’re back with a new record called The Weight’s on the Wheels and Matthew Adam Hart spoke to Exclaim! about recording this record in a professional studio:
“I did a version of the record, just in my bedroom, and I was kinda happy with it, but we got offered this chance to go down to New York and work with [Michael Musmanno] a producer who’s recorded albums by one of my favourite bands, the Lilys,” explains Hart. “He also did Outkast and some other groups I like, so he was interested and we thought, ‘Why not just try and make a proper studio record.’

There’s no word as to whether the film footage and music was saved, but according to San Carlos fire marshall Jim Palisi, Young “had a lot of film material in there that the firefighters protected.” Continue reading
’80s synth-revivalists La Roux claim ’80s revivalism is “so over”.
“I don’t want to make synth music for the rest of my fucking life,” she told Spinner. “It was a time when I was into that, but whatever, it’s done with; it’s gone. The whole genre is so over. It was my thing and I’m bored with it. If I see anything more ’80s-themed, I’m going to bust.” Continue reading
