Smashing Pumpkins band-leader Billy Corgan slammed Pavement in a recent twitter outburst saying:

“Just found out SP is playing with Pavement in Brazil. It’s gonna be 1 of those New Orleans type funerals… I say that because they represent the death of the alternative dream, and we follow with the affirmation of life part… funny how those who pointed the big finger of ‘sell out’ are the biggest offenders now…yawn. they have no love… by the way, we’ll be the band up there playing NEW songs because we have the love xx”

It’s been five years since The Russian Futurists released Our Thickness, but they’re back with a new record called The Weight’s on the Wheels and Matthew Adam Hart spoke to Exclaim! about recording this record in a professional studio:

There’s no word as to whether the film footage and music was saved, but according to San Carlos fire marshall Jim Palisi, Young “had a lot of film material in there that the firefighters protected.” Continue reading

’80s synth-revivalists La Roux claim ’80s revivalism is “so over”.
