I think all the venues are feeling the effect of Iggy Pop playing at Y-D and Pavement playing at the island, because Rancho should have been busier for these two sets.
Wendy Leung plays in Ex~Po, but she also plays solo, and she’s been reworking her sound as of late. I like the transition; the electric effects and strong percussion really flesh out her tunes, and the new tracks sound modern and nicely layered.
Two members of Parlovr are in Cotton Mouth, which is reason enough for you to check them out. Their songs stand up on their own, though. They’ll remind Parlovr fans of that material, but they’re overall poppier, with shades of Wolf Parade. Sounds great live.
