Young Galaxy, Caribou, Crystal Castles, Brasstronaut and the Besnard Lakes are all in the running for the 2010 ECHO Songwriting Prize.

Feist is working on a follow-up to The Reminder with prior collaborator Chilly Gonzales.

CMJ, held in New York City in October, has announced its initial line-up. Bands appearing, so far, include Surfer Blood, School of Seven Bells, and Helmet.

Matt & Kim have a new single out called Cameras, and they’ve put it up for you to hear on their Facebook fan page. If you like what you hear, the physical-single is out today and the record is scheduled to be released this November!

Dirty Projectors are releasing a two-disc expanded version of their lauded album Bitte Orca, and hitting the road for the fall while they’re at it.

Attention power-pop fans: If you loved the 2009 debut from Telekinesis! — and you should have — then you should be happy to hear that they have a new EP out today! The Parallel Seismic Conspiracies EP is out digitally and physically through MERGE Records, and they’ve got a video up for the song Dirty Thing too.

Bjork and Ennio Morricone shared the 2010 Polar Music Prize, awarded in Sweden. By the king! Who knew Sweden still had a king? Seems very un-Swedish.
