Today In Music News: Tue Sep 14

Broken Social Scene have added some new Canadian dates to their world tour in support of their latest album Forgiveness Rock Record. My favorite part of this story though, is that they’ll be playing some dates with Superchunk… including the Toronto stop!!

Speaking of, yesterday Superchunk dropped their very funny Digging For Something video, off their new record Majesty Shredding which is in stores today! How’s that for a segue?

DJ Shadow has a new record out soon, and there’s some tracks up on soundcloud — and his official website — for your listening pleasure. We’ve embedded Def Surrounds Us below:

In some very exciting news, Dismemberment Plan have re-formed in time for a re-issue of their seminal record Emergency & I. The re-issue will be a double-vinyl, and in an official release the band has hinted at new material to come. They also have a few live dates in the US on the radar:

01-21 Washington, DC – Black Cat
01-22 Washington, DC – 9:30 Club
01-27 Philadelphia, PA – Starlight Ballroom
01-28 Boston, MA – Paradise
01-29 New York, NY – Webster Hall

One of the more unique and entertaining rap groups right now, Das Racist, have released their second free mixtape today titled Sit Down, Man. It’s the follow up to their recent release Shut Up, Dude, which was more like a debut album than a mixtape.
