Because she is awesome, Neko Case is auctioning off the badass 1967 Mercury Cougar that appears on the cover of her latest studio album, Middle Cyclone. The car’s sale will benefit 826 National, a nonprofit founded by Dave Eggers that provides writing classes to kids.
More of the artists performing at Canadian Music Week in Toronto this March have been announced. The list now includes Janelle Monae, Hollerado, Land of Talk, and J Mascis and Kurt Vile.
Arcade Fire will be performing at the Grammy Awards on February 13, along with Cee-Lo Green and Lady Gaga.
Drake is at work on his sophomore album, to be called Take Care, and he’s brought on some indie hired help in Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine) and Jamie Smith (The XX).
Jay Reatard died unexpectedly on January 13, 2010. Today, his final recordings were released, in an exclusive to members of his fan club. More Reatard-related releases, including album reissues and a documentary, are expected later this year.
