The band: (http://www.myspace.com/parksandrecmusic) from Toronto Ontario
The Timeslot: Saturday March 12th @ 1 AM
What To Expect: This particular set is one that is very emotional for me. Parks & Rec and I have been discussing doing a Canadian Music Week show for some time now. But then something completely unexpected and tragic happened — Cristina Taborda, a friend and perhaps the best female vocal talent in Toronto, died suddenly and unexpectedly. Needless to say, nobody knew exactly what was going to happen with the band.
But the band has decided to continue on, and I believe that is what Cristina would have hoped they’d do. So on the Saturday of CMW, a new version of Parks & Recs — revamped and fueled by perseverance and passion — will take to the stage. This band is loaded with talented performers and songwriters, and before their current break they had been on quite a roll in the city. They combine elements of folk, indie-rock and pop to be one of the danciest folk-centric bands you will ever hear. This is a celebration, and I hope you will join us.
