Today in Music News: Mon Mar 21

The Beastie Boys have released the cover and tracklist for their upcoming album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, which will be released on May 3.

It looks like a video of Arcade Fire performing in Haiti with some of that country’s musicians will be released on DVD later this year — in the meantime you can enjoy their new trailer for the Spike Jonze-directed film Scenes from the Suburbs.

In an interesting development, Napster cofounder Sean Parker is apparently interested in purchasing Warner Music Group.

Bjork will be releasing a new album, Biophilia, via a series of apps — fitting, since it was recorded in part on an iPad.

Björk describes the project as a “multi-media project encompassing music, apps, internet, installations and live shows,” and she plans the preview the material during a six-show, three-week residency this summer at the Campfield Market Hall in Manchester, England (via P4K). An issued press release goes on to note that the concerts will include “a bespoke digitally-controlled pipe organ; a 30 foot pendulum that harnesses the earth’s gravitational pull to create musical patterns– creating a unique bridge between the ancient and the modern; a bespoke gamelan-celeste hybrid; and a one-off extraordinary pin barrel harp.”

Some pretty awesome stuff in on tap for Sled Island Festival, including Dandy Warhols and Of Montreal.

Patti Smith, forever awesome.
