Here’s a quick rundown of some major releases hitting shelves today in music stores:
Del The Funky Homosapien spent a good amount of time off during the 2000’s, but lately he’s been quite prolific. His recent collaboration with Tame 1 was a solid slab of hip-hop, and he’s been releasing mixtapes online as well. Today his LP “Golden Era” drops, a triple-pack including his new full length and two mixtapes from 2009.
The new Gorillaz album “The Fall” gets a physical release today, it was written and recorded on an iPad while on tour. The record was subject to fairly middling reviews, some critics seemed to enjoy the focus on atmosphere while others thought it was missing a specific hit-single.
Montreal’s premier francophone indie rock band Malajube have their fourth record “La Caverne” out now. Check out the band’s official site to stream some songs, see the album art, or maybe even buy some t-shirts.
The frustratingly named tUnE-yArDs‘ second album of lo-fi and eclectic noise-pop — titled “Who Kill” — is out today. It’s sitting at a nice 86 on metacritic right now, and has been getting more and more positive buzz every day.
British trio Nedry — yes, they’re named after a Jurassic Park character — also released their debut album “Condors” which features band member Ayu Okakita’s voice as a looped instrument.
