New Releases: Tuesday, April 26th

Here’s a quick rundown of some major releases hitting shelves today in music stores:

Prefuse 73 has a new record called The Only She Chapters, which features a bevy of guest vocalists including Zola Jesus, Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond) and Trish Keenan (Broadcast) amongst others. It’s a bit more ambient and less focused on beats this time around, but it’s a fascinating listen.

The new Times New Viking album Dancer Equired is out on Merge Records, the fuzzed out rock band have dialed back the ear-piercing volume levels but kept the hooks in tact.

If you’re a post-rock fan, you’ve probably already heard the new album Take Care, Take Care, Take Care from genre mainstays Explosions In The Sky. Early word is that despite sticking to their usual style, the album is a consistent entry into their discography.

Indie singer-songwriters Mirah (K Records) and Thao Nguyen (of The Get Down Stay Down) release their self-titled collaborative effort Thao & Mira which features a tUnE-yaRds guest spot.

Legendary country singer Emmylou Harris enlisted producer Jay Joyce for her new album Hard Bargain, which has so far been warmly received by critics and sits at 71 on Metacritic this morning.

Laura Stevenson & The Cans release their first proper full length today, titled Sit Resist. I’m a sucker for a great female vocalist and Laura Stevenson’s voice really does it for me on the new LP. We’ve posted a stream of the record here.

Of Montreal have an handful of songs recorded during the creation of their last album False Priest on their new EP Thecontrollersphere.
