NXNE Artist Preview: The Jon Cohen Experimental

You may previously have known the name Jon Cohen from his work with The Dears, but he’s stretched out on his own and released some new music under his “The Jon Cohen Experimental” moniker. His record Behold was recorded with a band, but he toured around Canada by his lonesome, nothing but some loop pedals and tripped out visuals to keep him company on his Greyhound trips from gig-to-gig. Check out his song “Hold The Fire” off of 2010’s Belong, a track that I can’t help but hear some of The Sea and Cake’s laid back atmospheric pop in.

If you dig what you hear, he’ll be playing at Rancho Relaxo on Thursday, June 16th (10pm slot).
