Metric releasing a remix album for a good cause

I’ll just put it out there: I usually dislike remix albums. They feel like a cash grab, and they almost never add anything in terms of quality music or new insight into the artist.

With that said, this remix album from Metric is a pretty great idea, because it’s all to help a good cause.

Metric are releasing Fantasies Flashbacks on October 11, and all their proceeds from the album will go to support the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. That is pretty great.

To add a little extra interest to the project, all of the remixes on the album come from Metric’s fans via Indaba. And if you pre-order Fantasies Flashbacks from Metric’s official site, you’ll get 15 percent off. The package itself is also pretty cool, including ten seven-inch singles, a music player loaded with the tracks, and an instant digital download.

If you’re going to do a remix album, this is the way to do it.
